I'd use such a book only if I didn't need to "drop" the sos from the book. I always go fishing once I have 123 sos's and I always carry them all on me. If I had to sort out which one that corresponds with one of the locations I've added to UOAM I wouldn't be fishing at all.

I believe that in order to fish up a ancient sos, a higher fishing skill is needed compared to a regular sos, however I'm not sure that this is entirely true. With that being said, a ancient sos will spawn two deep water elementals compared to a regular one which only spawns one deep water...

Looks like a shark, meanwhile the serpent statue looks like a squeezed daemon.
