I can't stand any of the other gathering skills. But there's just something about mining and listening to UO music that is just so nice... I haven't seen you around lately. Even though you almost always win, I miss our fights!

I used to spend like 5-6 hours mining at a time. Once in awhile @JoeB would pop up and I'd always go full * mode and start trying to strafe.

little late here, but since no one replied. Try restarting. sometimes the client freaks out and will hide an item in the 'drag' state.

do you have a ring of forgiveness? I'm sure if you do, you've already tried this. but incase it slipped your mind. you could try saying: "I seek forgiveness"

I'm not sure i'm seeing what the issue is? With a defense talisman, slayer weapon, and some standard GM armor, and you'll be just fine :)
